The Arlington County Police Department occasionally offers volunteer opportunities for Arlington County Residents. Currently, we are only accepting volunteers for our Arlington County Auxiliary Police Unit. Information on the Auxiliary Police Unit can be found below. Other Arlington County volunteer opportunities can be found at Volunteer Arlington.
Arlington County Auxiliary Police Unit
The Auxiliary Unit of the Arlington County Police Department is an all-volunteer unit that supplements the regular full-time County police force. Auxiliary police officers are trained, sworn, and uniformed officers who perform a wide range of responsibilities, from crowd and traffic control to community policing initiatives that improve the quality of life in Arlington County.
The Arlington County Auxiliary Police Unit is accepting new applicants for the Auxiliary Academy class scheduled to begin in the fall of 2014. Classes will be conducted primarily on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and several Saturdays over a three month period.
Interviews are scheduled in the evenings and on weekends. All applicants interested must fill out the forms located on the Auxiliary Police website. You can download all of the forms. These forms must be completed prior to the interview and either mailed or dropped off at the Front Counter at the Arlington County Police Department, 1425 N. Courthouse Rd. and addressed to A/Lt. H. Hurlock. Once the forms are reviewed, you will be contacted.
